Welcome to MatchPoint®. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains how MatchPoint® collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal information through:

  1. the MatchPoint website at thematchpoint.com; and
  2. the MatchPoint mobile application and related services (the “App”).

The information collected through the website is different from the information processed through the App. Those activities are described separately below.

Part A — MatchPoint Website

2. Website Information We Collect

When you visit thematchpoint.com, we may collect information you provide directly to us and certain information about how the website is used.

Information You Provide

If you complete a contact, information, download, or similar form, we may collect:

  • your name;

  • your email address; and

  • any other information you choose to submit.

Website Analytics

We may use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use our website.

These services may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as:

  • browser and device information;

  • pages visited;

  • interactions with the website;

  • approximate location derived from technical information;

  • referral information; and

  • other website usage and performance data.

Website analytics are separate from information obtained through Google OAuth or Google Calendar within the MatchPoint App.

3. How We Use Website Information

We may use website information to:

  • respond to inquiries;

  • provide information you request;

  • understand how visitors use the website;

  • improve website performance and content;

  • maintain security and prevent abuse; and

  • comply with applicable legal obligations.

4. Website Cookies

The MatchPoint website may use cookies and similar technologies, including those associated with Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.

You may be able to control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect website functionality.

Website cookies do not provide MatchPoint with access to your Google Calendar.

5. Third-Party Website Links

Our website may contain links to websites, services, plug-ins, or applications operated by third parties.

We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review their privacy policies when visiting their services.

Part B — MatchPoint App

6. App Information We Collect

The MatchPoint App is a professional networking product designed to support networking and engagement around events.

The information we collect depends on how you use the App and which features you choose to enable.

Account and Profile Information

When you register for or use MatchPoint, we may collect information such as:

  • name;

  • email address;

  • phone number;

  • job title;

  • company or organization;

  • professional interests;

  • industry;

  • skills;

  • education information;

  • profile information you choose to provide;

  • event registrations and participation information;

  • networking preferences;

  • matches and connections;

  • messages and other interactions within MatchPoint;

  • device identifiers;

  • notification tokens; and

  • related technical information.

Some information may also be provided to MatchPoint by an event organizer where MatchPoint is being used as part of an event.

7. Google Sign-In

Connecting a Google Account is optional.

If you choose to sign in using Google, MatchPoint may receive information authorized through Google OAuth, including:

  • your name;

  • your email address;

  • your Google Account identifier; and

  • basic profile information associated with Google’s openid, profile, and email permissions.

We use this information to authenticate you and associate your Google Account with your MatchPoint account.

8. Google Calendar

Connecting Google Calendar is optional.

If you choose to connect Google Calendar, MatchPoint requests authorization necessary to provide its Calendar integration.

MatchPoint currently uses the Google Calendar calendar.events permission. This permission may technically allow MatchPoint to view and edit calendar events accessible through the authorized Google Account.

MatchPoint limits its use of that permission to providing the Calendar functionality presented within the App, such as creating or updating calendar events associated with agenda sessions, confirmed meetings, or other MatchPoint activities that you choose to add or synchronize.

MatchPoint does not use Google Calendar information for advertising or advertising profiling.

To maintain your Calendar connection, MatchPoint may securely store OAuth access tokens and refresh tokens associated with your Google Account.

9. How We Use App Information

We may use personal information collected through the App to:

  • create and manage MatchPoint accounts;

  • provide event functionality;

  • create and display professional profiles;

  • provide networking recommendations and matches;

  • facilitate connections and communications between users;

  • operate agenda and meeting functionality;

  • provide Google sign-in and Calendar synchronization;

  • send service and transactional communications;

  • provide notifications you have enabled;

  • maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve MatchPoint;

  • provide customer support;

  • prevent fraud, misuse, and security incidents; and

  • comply with applicable legal obligations.

10. How We Use Google User Data

Information received from Google APIs is used only to provide or improve the user-facing MatchPoint features that caused you to authorize access.

For example, MatchPoint may use Google user data to:

  • authenticate your account;

  • associate your Google Account with your MatchPoint account;

  • create a Google Calendar event when you request it;

  • update a Calendar event previously synchronized through MatchPoint; and

  • troubleshoot or secure those integrations.

MatchPoint does not use Google user data:

  • for targeted, personalized, or retargeting advertising;

  • to create advertising profiles;

  • for sale to data brokers;

  • for sale as personal information; or

  • to train generalized artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.

11. Sharing of App Information

We may share App information where necessary to provide MatchPoint.

Service Providers

We may use service providers for functions such as:

  • cloud infrastructure and hosting;

  • databases and data storage;

  • authentication;

  • email delivery;

  • push notifications;

  • security and monitoring; and

  • technical support.

These providers process information on MatchPoint’s behalf and are expected to use it only as necessary to provide their services.

Event Organizers and Other MatchPoint Users

Depending on the event and features being used, certain information may be visible to other parties participating in the MatchPoint experience.

This may include:

  • profile information;

  • professional information;

  • event participation;

  • matches;

  • connections; and

  • messages or information you choose to share.

Certain information may also be accessible to the organizer of an event in which you participate.

At Your Direction

We may transmit information when you direct us to do so.

For example, if you choose to add a MatchPoint meeting or agenda item to Google Calendar, MatchPoint sends the information necessary to create or update that event in the Google Account you connected.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or governmental requests, or to protect MatchPoint, our users, or others.

12. Google API Services User Data Policy

MatchPoint’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Google user data is used only to provide or improve user-facing features associated with Google sign-in and Calendar integration.

MatchPoint does not:

  • use Google user data for advertising;

  • sell Google user data;

  • transfer Google user data to data brokers;

  • use Google user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes; or

  • use Google user data to train generalized AI or machine-learning models.

Access by MatchPoint personnel to Google user data is restricted except where reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, or secure a feature requested by the user, comply with applicable law, or where the user has provided authorization.

13. App Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information.

For Google OAuth and Calendar-related information, measures include:

  • using TLS/HTTPS for information transmitted between systems;

  • storing OAuth credentials and tokens in access-controlled systems;

  • avoiding storage of OAuth credentials in publicly accessible logs; and

  • limiting access to systems and personnel that require it to operate, secure, or troubleshoot the integration.

No online system can guarantee absolute security.

14. Disconnecting Google Calendar

You may disconnect Google Calendar through available MatchPoint account or App settings.

You may also revoke MatchPoint’s access through your Google Account permissions.

Once the authorization has been disconnected or revoked, MatchPoint will no longer be able to use that authorization to synchronize future Calendar events.

OAuth credentials associated with a disconnected integration will be deleted, invalidated, or otherwise made unusable in accordance with our technical and retention processes, except where retention is required for legal or security reasons.

Disconnecting MatchPoint does not automatically remove Calendar events that MatchPoint previously created in your Google Calendar.

Part C — Privacy Practices Applying to Both Website and App

15. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including:

  • providing MatchPoint services;

  • maintaining security and business records;

  • complying with legal requirements;

  • resolving disputes; and

  • enforcing agreements.

Different categories of information may have different retention periods.

16. Aggregated and De-identified Information

We may create and use aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify an individual.

For example, we may analyze:

  • overall website traffic;

  • numbers of event participants;

  • usage of particular MatchPoint features; or

  • the percentage of users who enable Calendar synchronization.

We may use aggregated or de-identified information for analytics, product improvement, reporting, and other legitimate business purposes.

17. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, applicable privacy laws may provide rights relating to your personal information.

These may include rights to:

  • request access;

  • request correction;

  • request deletion;

  • object to or restrict certain processing;

  • request portability of certain information; and

  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

These rights may be subject to legal limitations or exceptions.

You may separately revoke MatchPoint’s Google access through your Google Account permissions.

18. International Processing

MatchPoint and service providers supporting MatchPoint may process personal information in countries other than the country where you live.

Where required by applicable law, we take appropriate measures relating to international transfers and protection of personal information.

19. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes to MatchPoint, our technology, our privacy practices, or applicable requirements.

We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page when changes are made.
